How To Adopt A German Shepherd
The Adoption ProcessClick here to complete a Florida Adoption Application
The Adoption Donation
We do ask for a donation when you adopt a dog from S.H.A.R.E. We care for these dogs because we love the breed and the dogs themselves. However, in order to continue our rescue efforts, we must recoup some of the costs of veterinary care, food, training, etc. Our adoption donations range from $250 to $400. The donation is based on the dog’s age and whether or not they are pure-breeds.

The Adoption Agreement
When we place a dog with his/her new family, we hope it is a “forever” home. However, if the adoption does not work out for any reason, we require that the dog be returned to us. If at any time during the dog’s life re-homing is necessary, again the dog must be returned to S.H.A.R.E.
Shepherd Help And Rescue Effort, Inc. is made up of a group of animal lovers who have fallen in love with the German Shepherd breed.
Each is a volunteer, donating their time, money and skills to the rescue of these amazing dogs. S.H.A.R.E. volunteers come in all ages, shapes and sizes, just like German Shepherds do.
S.H.A.R.E. currently works to rescue German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes from the Miami-Dade area, especially from the Miami-Dade Animal Services, a high kill shelter.Click here to learn more about S.H.A.R.E.
About Our Founders
A woman named Elissa Powers was living in South Florida and was trying to rescue German Shepherds from one of the nation’s highest kill shelters, the Miami-Dade Animal Services.
Coincidentally, Cathy Matuella rescued a dog from Miami and had shepherds in the past. She wanted to help save shepherds from kill shelters.
For over a year they each worked separately and together to rescue German Shepherds. It was then that they decided they should organize their own German Shepherd rescue organization.
They officially incorporated in August 2011.Click here to learn more about our founders
